Fairmont The Norfolk Hotel Donates Towards the Kenya Red Cross Drought Appeal
Fairmont The Norfolk Hotel, donated a cheque of Ksh 176,000 towards the drought appeal kitty at the Kenya Red Cross Society (KRCS) Headquarters on Friday 5th May 2017. They also donated assorted dry foods (13 bales of maize flour, 20 kg sugar, 12 500ml Rina cooking oil, 1 dozen table salt and 2 kg beans).
The idea to donate towards the drought was initiated by a colleague who felt that the hotel should celebrate their annual Nutrition Month differently.
“Many Kenyans are suffering due to the ongoing drought, so we decided to give less to the staff and give to a reputable humanitarian organization to deliver the food to the drought affected people.” Said the Group Director, Human Resources, Ms. Mbithe Wambua during the handover ceremony.
Receiving the donation on behalf of KRCS, was KRCS Emergency and Operations Manager, Mr. James Mwangi and Public Health Manager Dr. Bett Robert.
The ongoing drought that has been experienced in most parts of the country has left families in dire need of food for survival. KRCS has been in the forefront in mitigating the effects of the drought situation.
“Thank you for the donation and we hope to continue partnering with you in the mitigation of the effects of drought.” concluded Mr. James Mwangi.
