Kenya Red Cross Society partners with Donsoco Energy (K) Limited.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between the Kenya Red Cross Society (KRCS) and the Donsoco Energy (K) Limited, officiating a partnership that seeks to engage the fields of energy generation (power generation), water treatment and food security.

The Event took place on 21 April 2017 at the KRCS Headquarters. Present at the signing ceremony was the KRCS Secretary General Dr. Abbas Gullet, and Donsoco Energy President, Dr. Floris JC Bran, witnessed by KRCS Head of Water and Sanitation Ayaz Manji and Frankie Petrouse of Donsoco Energy.

Areas of cooperation include; Energy Production (including but not limited to Electricity Power and Bio Fuel production), Water Treatment (including but not limited to Desalination, Raw Water Treatment), Food Security Initiative (including but not limited to Hydroponics, Horticulture and Commercial Farming), Access to Finance, Stakeholder Engagement, Communication, Advocacy and lobbying, Capacity building and resourcing. This also includes training and knowledge sharing.

All partners are expected to lay out a framework for collaboration between the parties to develop, promote and strengthen joint actions and collaboration and an active engagement with other stakeholders in the energy, water and food production.

“We are happy with the MoU and we are eager to progress with the project with the benefit of the people in mind. We also thank the KRCS, for being part of this project and we will continue working with you in the implementation process,” said Dr. Bran.

The counties that will be involved in the implementation of this project are Kilifi and Lamu County. Dr. Gullet, thanked the Donsoco Energy for the trust they had in Kenya Red Cross Society, noting, “This project will create employment for the young people in these counties.”
