Pan African Youth Conference on Hazardous Chemicals Waste Held
The Pan African Youth Conference on Hazardous Chemicals Waste was recently held at the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) in Gigiri, Nairobi, where 250 youth from different Countries and Counties participated, alongside various partners and organizations. The event took Place on 19th and 20th April 2017.
Various topics covered included; the role of government, private sector and development partners in urbanization and hazardous chemicals & waste management; Case studies in global perspectives on hazardous chemicals and waste management; Environment, health and gender nexus and Partnership for action on capacity development to spur Green Cites in Africa towards achieving sustain-able development goals.
Further discussions touched on the implementation of urban sustainability dialogue: from decision to action 2030 agenda for sustainability and Capacity development on implementation of waste management infrastructure and associated services for sustainability at local levels.
The official opening was done by the Cabinet Secretary for Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources, Prof. Judy Wakhungu. Kenya Red Cross Society was well represented by the Lower Eastern Regional Chair, Teresa Wanaina, County Youth Chair, Esther Muiruri, Membership and Volunteer Assistant Zipporah Kerubo and a Youth Representative from Nairobi Branch, Sidney Toywa.
