Dr. Ahmed Idris

Secretary-General Kenya of Red Cross Society

Dr. Ahmed Idris is the Secretary General at the Kenya Red Cross Society. He has previously served as the Deputy Secretary General - corporate services and the excecutive director of the International Center for Humanitarian Affairs. He has also and the Head of Policy and Advocacy and Governance Manager. He holds a Bachelor of Arts (Political Science), a Bachelor of Laws and a Master of Laws in International Law. He also holds a Master of Arts in Law and Diplomacy from the Fletcher School Tufts University and Master of Studies in International Human Rights Law from University of Oxford. Ahmed has over ten years' experience shaping law and policy in Kenya and the region, working with public governments and communities to address humanitarian challenges.

Annette Msabeni

Deputy Secretary General - Programs, Kenya Red Cross Society

Annette Msabeni is the Deputy Secretary General of Kenya Red Cross Society in charge of programs. She has over 17 years' experience in development and humanitarian work both here in Kenya and different counties across the world. Her expertise in programs is in HIV & health, food security & livelihoods, WASH, gender equity, conflict transformation and peace building, risk reduction, disaster preparedness, response & recovery.

She is multi-lingual (English, French and Spanish) and holds a Master's in Business Administration from Strathmore University, and a Master of Arts in Sociology from Université de Paris IX - Nanterre, and a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology from the University of Nairobi.

Annette thrives on the diversity that her career presents. Experiencing different countries and cultures, thematic contexts, stakeholders, and legal frameworks has always been a personal and professional highlight for her.
