Activities

The focus is on three thematic areas; Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR), Food Security and Livelihood (FS&L) and Environmental Management and Climate Change Adaptation (E/CCA). In line with the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk, the department works with vulnerable communities to build knowledge and understanding around disaster risk, strengthen community, local and national level governance structures to manage disaster risk, working with different donors and partners to invest in disaster risk programming and enhancing disaster preparedness in order to strengthen community resilience.

The department also implements programmes that contribute to the Sustainable Development Goal (SDGs) 2 to end hunger, achieve food security and improved nutrition and promotion of sustainable agriculture.
