The Association of South East Nations (ASEAN) donated Ksh. 576,200 towards Kenya Red Cross operations in Kalobeyei Settlement Camp. The money will be used in the procurement of assorted medical supplies for the Kalobeiyei integrated community health facilities (both the Refugee and the host community population).

Speaking during the handover ceremony, the Malaysian High Commissioner to Kenya H.E. Loh Seck Tiong thanked the KRCS for its great work across the country. “We recognize the remarkable work by the Kenya Red Cross in terms of humanitarian work. With this in mind, we decided to select the organization for this donation which is earmarked for medical supplies.”

“The donation is as a result of funds raised through a charity event and we believe despite our modest contribution, it will go a long way to support marginalized communities.” Added Ambassador Tiong.

The donation was received by the KRCS Governor Dr. Mahmoud Said and Secretary General Dr. Abbas Gullet.

“We are thankful because it is the first time we are receiving this kind of support. We are very happy to engage with you not only in disaster response but long term development projects. Thank you for choosing Kenya Red Cross.” appreciated Dr. Gullet.

The event was graced by Ambassadors and other senior representative from Indonesia, Malaysia, The Philippines and Thailand.
