Kenya Red Cross Society Secretary General Dr. Asha Mohammed and Kibra Mp Imran Okoth Urge Kenyans to Adhere to Government Directive On Covid-19
Kenya Red Cross Secretary General Dr. Asha Mohammed and Kibra Member of Parliament Hon. Imran Okoth have urged Kenyans to adhere to government directives to combat the Coronavirus pandemic.
Dr. Asha and Hon. Okoth were speaking when they led Red Cross staff and volunteers to sensitize residents of Kibra on the disease. Kenya Red Cross is implementing community sensitization in partnership with the Ministry of Health.
The Society has already visited Mukuru kwa Njenga, Mukuru kwa Reuben, Viwandani, Mukuru Kayaba, Mukuru Fuata Nyayo and Landi Mawe among other areas in Nairobi.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Asha said, “We are aware that Kibra residents are at a higher risk due to the high population but with good hygiene and maintaining the recommended physical distance, we will prevent infections."
Dr. Asha said that the Red Cross had stepped up sensitisation activities across the country so as to reach everyone with these messages. She demonstrated the good handwashing practice which is one of the most effective ways to prevent the spread of the Coronavirus.
Area MP Hon. Imran urged the Kibra Sub County Deputy County Commissioner, who was also present, to enforce the directive of the Government on the number of passengers in public transport vehicles.
The Kenya Red Cross will continue to provide information and linkages through its call center services and psychosocial support services to Kenyans.
